Here are some of the more decent concept sketches I came up with after failing many, many times to get any kind of likeness of a young Clint.

I fleshed out a small turnaround that I might use as modeling refs. Not sold on the front view yet.

Here's another model I've been working on. I love pretty much anything Clint Eastwood, especially the Man With No Name trilogy. So it's fitting that I wanted to model a stylized "Blondie" character from the movies. Most of his body is blocked in and quite a bit of the props have been built. Not too much details on the clothing yet.

I've been trying to learn ZBrush and implement it into my workflow. Still have a long way to go before I can get anything useful out of it, but it's coming along.

I'll have more renders later showing the gun belt and hat.

More Thundarr

So after some input on Thundarr, I've decided on the running body. It's powerful yet still somewhat stylized. I'm going to continue fleshing that out.

I moved onto the head after and came up with a few sketches(complete with a Buscema doodle). I fleshed out one a little more and colored it a bit. I'm not much of a colorer, but it's something I want to get better at. Check it out.

What is the best way to start an art blog called The Pixel Barbarian you ask? How bout with some concepts for a Thundarr the Barbarian 3d Model?

This is kinda retcon modernization of Thundarr. Over at CGtalk.com there's a hardcore modeling challenge going on that is 80's cartoon based, I'm still lingering on the edge of joining up. Kinda intimidating ya know, and there's not much time left.

I decided to try something a little different this time since it's been awhile since I did any drawing. I went for straight up silhouette drawings to get a feel of style I want to use. I get a lot of influence from John Buscema, Jack Kirby, and Bruce Timm as you might be able to notice. I'd like to find a hybrid realistic, yet still stylized...umm...style, not straying too far from his barbarian qualities.

Here are some thumbs I roughed out to get some of the poses.
